#53 Kommer vist an på versionen. Ifølge 2 reviews af hhv TotalDVD (Ultimate Edition Aliens) og DVDTherapy (Quadrology Japan) er konklusionen:
Ultimate Edition Sound 9/10 : What makes this Japanese R2 version of the film special is the outstanding DTS track. Both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS mixes are present. The DD track is a fine remaster of the original film, with expansive range, good focus and excellent front soundstage. It is fair to say that DD advocates will not be disappointed, that is until they listen to the DTS track. Awesome is a good word to describe it. The opening shots of Ripley’s escape pod being found by the salvage crew, and the door being cut through with oxyacetylene torches is simply stunning. The DTS mix is noticeable richer, fuller and yes…louder. The soundstage escapes the confines of the viewing room, particularly the front where the effects channels are wider than bell bottomed trousers. Effects placement takes on a new precision, with extra detail on offer. The only reason a full 10/10 was not achieved was due to the dialogue tracks occasional lapse into muddiness, made all the more apparent by the rest of the channels clarity.
Aliens Quadrilogy 4/5 : When the Alien Quad was released in the US and UK there were a lot of disappointed DVD collectors when it was conformed that Aliens and Alien 3 would be without a DTS soundtrack. So when the Japanese set was announced with DTS throughout the whole set we made sure we got hold of a copy!
Having compared the Dolby and DTS track whilst watching various scenes it is clear to me that the difference between the two is very subtle, and certainly not as obvious as I, and many other people would have hoped. During the scene where Ripley crashes the marine's vehicle into and around corners and finally through a barricade to rescue the squad who are being slaughtered by the aliens, the DTS track exhibits more punch and more of an impact in the LFE department when the vehicle slams into the obstacles. The same can be said for the scenes featuring the sentry guns. The DTS track really packs a punch, the guns feel like they are hitting harder than the Dolby option. I was hoping that the gunfire during the Aliens-in-the-ceiling sequence would sound fuller in DTS, but unfortunately they don't, when the Aliens crash through the ceiling and fly through the air landing all around the marines however, the DTS track again goes lower, giving the scene a more pleasing, exciting sound overall. I must reiterate that there isn't a great deal of differences between the two tracks throughout the whole film, both tracks perform well, and although lack the depth and impact of brand new surround sound tracks, service the film very well.
May I add that I briefly compared the Japanese DTS option to the UK R2 Dolby Digital track and the difference was much more apparent. When comparing the two scenes I mentioned above, the DTS track blew the Dolby option away with much more impressive and low LFE. Gunfire was fuller throughout, the rescue plane explosion rumbled much more and the to be honest, the DTS track out performed the Dolby track in every area.

#31 Tillykke med svinet, har selv en. Men dog ikke photo, bare en af de "normale" på 20gb. Min er defekt lige i øjeblikket så den skal sendes retur en af dagene! :(
