Sjov production note: Production Notes: Universal wanted the film to be shot on the studio lot. Eastwood refused, and had a whole town built in the desert near Lake Mono in the California Sierras. Many of the buildings were complete and three-dimensional, so that interiors could be shot on location. Even the film editing was done on location, in a nearby log cabin. The screenplay was written by Ernest Tidyman, who had just won an Oscar for The French Connection.

Jeg tør dog ikke give mit besyv, da jeg så den i slutningen af 70'erne. Jeg husker den som udmærket, men tidens tand er jo ikke lige god ved alle film. Du skal ikke forvente helt samme niveau som "Good Bad Ugly" og "For A Few Dollars More", men hvad kan også sammenlignes med disse to? (Nævner med vilje ikke den sidste i A Man With No Name-trilogien, genindspilningen af Yojimo, Kurosawas klassiker "A Fistful of Dollars", fordi den IMO halter langt efter de to andre. Er i øvrigt indspillet en tredje gang med Juice Vilnis, men ej heller dén når Kurusawas original)
