SPL is slick and stylish, uncompromisingly nihilistic with little humour, excepting a very nice gag involving Po’s cellular ringtone and the occasional Sammo Hung act of extreme coolness. For fans of the genre SPL is an absolute MUST SEE. To fail to catch this film in the cinema is to miss a milestone in Hong Kong Action.
This is a film so intense, so powerful, that it should inspire Hong Kong film makers to new heights for years to come. Yip has thrown down the gauntlet here, "This is what we used to do so well, why have we gotten away from it?" Here's hoping that he, and others, take up that challenge. Absolutely brilliant. Truly stunning. A perfect ten.

#35 Jeg sætter selv meget lid til Twitch. Det har noget med deres reviews generelt at gøre og de plejer at være pænt i overensstemmelse med mine egne "syn". Når de går amok, så er det som regel fordi noget er værd at gå amok over. Men det er jo smag :) Men her er lidt at læse
1. I am on record saying that it is the best Hong Kong action film of the past decade, Infernal Affairs included, and I am perfectly happy to stand by that claim. 2. The reaction of the entire row of Twitch folk on seeing this film projected at the Toronto Film Festival - once we'd scraped our jaws off the floor - was the unanimous opinion that seeing this film was equal to our first viewings of John Woo's The Killer. 3. We've reviewed it FOUR TIMES. And all four reviews are absolutely glowing. And here they are: mine, Mack's, Kurt's, and Peter's.
This film goes well beyond 'recommended' territory into absolutely essential. Yes, we like it a bit.
