DC er markant bedre. En meget mere helstøbt film med langt flere nuancer både hvad angår temaer, karakterer og handling. Sådan skal en rigtig extended edition skæres.
IGN So if you, like I once was, are skeptical about the merits of 45 more minutes of this film - one which I warned you will get bored, you may fall asleep - give it the benefit of the doubt; great movies are few and far between, particularly when we think we know all there is about them. But sometimes, as in the case of Kingdom of Heaven, truly memorable and significant artistic achievements cannot merely be made; they have to be found, re-forged and re-released. From a box office perspective, Kingdom of Heaven may well be dead and gone; but the Director's Cut DVD assures that its true legacy - as a restored classic and great modern epic - lives on for years to come.

Of that I am certain. This is a renewed vision that parallels that done for the extended cuts of Lord of the Rings. And that should speak volumes. Now the only thing wanting is a high definition presentation more faithful to the master than what DVD can afford. I only hope that Fox doesn’t follow Sony and release a lesser cut on Blu-ray when the time comes, as this is the version that most deserves to be seen. Until then Fox has given us an excellent DVD set that bests a very capable first release in just about every way.

With all the words put into this review, I didn't even touch upon the three (!) different commentary tracks, one by Scott, Bloom and Monahan, and two others with assorted other crew members of the film. Every sketch, every photo, every recorded relevant recollection is included. Even the genesis of the film, which was the end of another film's pre-production is here, along with apparently as much of that production as could be made available. This is clearly the best DVD release of 2006 so far, and will right fully stay on top of (or near) the hill for the rest of the year.

Den kom med posten i går. Håber at få den set i dag eller i det mindste i løbet af weekenden.
Men når nu han har lavet lækre DVD-udgaver af både Gladiator og Kingdom of Heaven, så må ham Ridley da gerne lige tage et kig på den der Blade Runner, eller hvad den nu hedder... ;)
