NTSC 24p afspilning ... FOR DVD'ere!!!! Det har jeg aldrig set på en afspiller før, så det burde nu være muligt at se DVD film i 24p!!!

SD processing.
Three test discs to check out the 83 and the vast majority of challenges were passed easily by the player.
Tried to pick out tests which could affect the players processing in "normal" DVD playback. (83 set to Auto deinterlacing)

Peter Finzel test disc.
2:2 pulldown progressive and interlaced tests > PASS.
24p,Pixel cropping and resolution test > PASS.
Restaraunt scene > no line-twitter,jaggies etc.

VRS.
Cadence/detection tests.
Film 2:2 and 3:2 passed easily,rock solid picture with no shimmering or any loss of detail. (two guys in the cafe)
Film detail (speedway) 3:2 passed easily. 2:2 borderline PASS slight moire in one grandstand for a split second then rock solid for rest of run.Now,switch to 2:2 odd (film specific deinterlacing) and the speedway test is perfect right from the beginning and razor sharp throughout.
Wedge patterns. (players overall deinterlacing)
2:2/3:3 plus Bad edits and Speed > PASS.
Jaggies > PASS.
Mixed Film/Video mode > PASS.
Demo material:
US flag > PASS. Hockey match > excellent,smooth motion,plenty of detail and no shimmering. Ship and Ropes overall very good,nice and sharp with only one hiccup.
Selection of difficult video clips to test the players processing > majority passed with no issues at all.

Spears and Munsil.
This disc comes free with the Oppo and it is indeed very good some lovely HD demo footage is included with TrueHD/DTS-MA soundtracks. (spot the clip from TwinPeaks)
Source Adaptive denterlacing:
Rotating patterns > 2:2/3:2 pass easily. Race car clip > Speed tests and Bad edits all near enough passed without issue.
Video deinterlacing clips > majority passed with no issues.
True 24p output > PASS.
Mixed Film/Video (horizontal text) overall very good. Vetical text scrolling,one part good flicker in others. (no combing though)
Image cropping,Chroma,Resolution.Geomety,PiP tests (plus many more) all fine.
*So overall the player performs brilliantly on the majority of test in "Auto" mode and don't forget the beauty of the Oppo with DVD is it's custom deinterlacing options and these actually DO work and for me pushes the machine way ahead from anything i've seen so far*

Movies.
Only quick first impressions so far but there good actually there VERY good.
The player outputs high quality 1080p pictures with ease,nice and sharp with a VERY low noise ratio to the image.Detail is high and compression artefacts are kept at bay.BDP-83 retains the solid 3D look to SD images which made the 983 such a great DVD player.
NTSC 24p output is excellent (smooth) and it's here where it "clearly" pushes ahead over the 983.
With the same disc in each player (Lost) switching back and forth and apart from the obvious benefit of no judder there's a small (but noticeable) reduction in noise to the picture which just adds to overall presentation.PQ is natural looking and even though sharp,it's very far away from looking processed which can overtake the picture on some players.
Verdict: DVD quality is SUPERB on this player easily 10 out of 10.

Jeg har kun skimmet teksten, men det lyder rigtig godt. Hvad med regions-lås? Kan den mon låses op eller er den født uden lås?

#4 Uhh, ikke dårligt. Det kunne være, det var på tide at få sendt SD-afspilleren på pension i soveværelset og opgradere til en laber Oppo ...
