Der har tidligere været rygter om, at skotske James McAvoy skulle spille ingeniøren Scotty i den kommende 11. “Star Trek” film, der instrueres af J. J. Abrams.
Ifølge Sunday Mirror skulle McAvoy nu officielt være blevet castet til rollen, der tidligere blev personificeret af afdøde James Doohan.
James McAvoy, der selv skulle være stor “Star Trek”-fan, er bedst kendt fra “Narnia” og “The Last King of Scotland”.

I liked him in Children of Dune, I really did. But in Narnia he was like a pedophile in it.
Also, in all fairness... are we going to suffer through Star Trek TOS the Movie with pretty boys and pretty girls? Cause if memory serves and it does, then Doctor McCoy looked like crap! And so did Scotty. Sorry but, this whole thing kind of sucks if everything has to be super stylish and they try to reinvent the franchise with new and young actors. Sleek ships and hot chicks... cause then it will still suck... We need a good story for once...
Finally the choice for Spock is spot on, I agree with their choice and support them on it. But we still miss the Doc and Kirk. So... We'll see... not to mention I hope that this character is only going to appear for a moment. I don't need to see the entire crew of the Enterprise in new skin. Not to mention, they didn't hang out before they got to the USS Enterprise...
So.. what's the deal?

Will I see him differently?
Cause in Narnia he just didn't do it for me and King of Scotland wasn't much better. Children of Dune yes, but that's all I've seen with him...
