Now this is where the new release brings home the awards.
Both editions feature marvellously punchy and immersive Dolby Digital 5.1 mixes that will blow you away with their aggressive use of the sub and great directional sound steerage. Even the original release would have rated top marks for its audio delivery but now with the new version coming equipped with a stunning DTS mix we’ll have to re-jig the scales. Quite simply this is an awesome soundtrack that truly delivers the goods, ensuring all your speakers will be given a thorough workout.
Exceptionally powerful, with tremendously deep bass that will rock your soul with any explosion – hell, even just the gunning of the engines will spool your guts into a frenzy. Tyres screech and metal is crunched. I swear that after the second chase you will be checking the carpet for oil and glass. But listen to those gunshots, particularly DeNiro’s double-taps! Without a shred of doubt these are the most convincing blasts that I have ever heard – solid, startling enough to make you catch your breath and impeccably steered around you. They punch through the air almost enough to make your ears pop. Not since Saving Private Ryan have I cowered so much from sound-effects. Nothing short of excellent.
This even includes the ambient effects – the tube station, cafes, even the scene where the team all meet up with the much opening and closing of car doors and echos of footsteps. Everything is pure demo material. Quite the best and most realistic DTS track I have had the pleasure to listen to. There’s just so much taking place all around that you are completely immersed in the film.
Dialogue does not suffer at all though, always clear and well presented. Elia Cmiral’s score also reaps the rewards of this tremendous mix with the haunting main theme mournfully wavering from the speakers and the booming chase tempos thundering forth.
An exceptional mix that well and truly places the Special Edition in a league of its own.

Efter at have lånt min version ud, kom den desværre tilbage flækket - øv, øv, øv :-(
Men så må jeg jo investere i denne mere interessante udgave....
