#4 - en synekdoke er, hvor du sætter en del for en helhed, f.eks. hvis man siger Hollywood, men mener hele den amerikanske filmindustri.

Men ja, spændende program

Sorrentino gør det igen med Il Divo! Jeg glæder mig som et lille barn, hvis denne er på højde eller endda bedre end Conseguenze dell'Amore. Har vi Cannes vinderen her?!?!

Variety skriver:

An intensely political film so wildly inventive and witty that it will become a touchstone for years to come, "Il Divo" is a masterpiece for maverick helmer-scribe Paolo Sorrentino.

Not merely chronicling the career of seven-time Italian Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti but also zooming in on the enigmatic politico's character, pic features an astonishing degree of craftsmanship and a towering performance by Toni Servillo. Sole drawback is that nonlocals will feel inundated by names, most of which are familiar only to Italo auds. This is a brave, bold film whose chances of international success are relatively small, but whose ramifications are huge.

Anmeldelse

Though always finely tuned to the uses of music and sound, here again Sorrentino out-does himself, weaving Sibelius compositions with singers like Beth Orton and pairing them to scenes in a way that extracts maximum emotion without feeling manipulative. Final images tied to Trio's deadpan 1982 hit "Da Da Da" couldn't be more perfect.

Uuuh... Synecdoche, New York havde premiere i går!

"Flashes of comic genius and melancholy insight into the human condition are woven into an increasingly elaborate canvas in which the boundaries between artifice and reality are slowly erased. Mainstream audiences are likely to find it simply too weird and unfathomable for their viewing pleasure but surely nobody expected Kaufman to make What Happens In Vegas?"-Allan Hunter in Screen Daily

Not for everyone, but certainly for me! Elsker Kaufmans twisted mind, glæder mig vildt!

Alle sammen roser den. En enkelt sammenligner endda med Fellini. Det ser stort ud. Generelt ser de fleste Cannes-film i år gode ud. Lad os håbe at danske distributører køber rub og stub.

HollywoodReporter, råber i kor om Il Divo.

The big question is how well the film will play to audiences outside of Italy, since even in its home territory many viewers will be baffled by the overwhelming cast of characters and the sheer complexity of Andreotti's many entanglements. It's a shame that this wildly exuberant, brilliantly crafted film will probably never get the worldwide exposure, in any format, that it clearly deserves.

Mens vi venter på, at Guldpalmerne bliver uddelt om kort tid, er der her et lille overblik over Red Carpet moments i Cannes i år:

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/fi...

Forresten er Il Divo måske ikke den bedste italienske film i løbet i år. Fra Times' artikel om mulige vindere:

Matteo Garrone's Gomorrah is probably the blackest, least sentimental study of the Mafia in Italian or American film history. In its depiction of the Camorra crime family there are no good guys, no crusading cops, no mama pleading with her son to stay out of the rackets. Just ruthless villains and their victims, dispatched without mercy or regret.
