A mandatory evacuation order is in effect for residents in Zone A areas, the Rockaways, Hamilton Beach, and City Island.
If you live in Zone A, consider staying with friends or family outside the affected area. If you cannot stay with family or friends, shelters are open in public schools around the city. All evacuation centers have at least one entrance usable for wheelchairs. If you require further information, you can call 311 or visit the MOPD website, which will also provide information about accessible transportation. If you cannot reach a shelter by yourself, call 311 for help with transportation. Find out what zone you live in and the location of your nearest evacuation center/shelter. Alternate Side Parking regulations (street cleaning) are suspended citywide on Monday, 10/29, to facilitate storm preparation. Payment at parking meters is also suspended throughout the city on Monday, 10/29. The MTA has shut down all subway, bus, and commuter railroad service. For more information, visit the MTA website. The Staten Island Ferry service is suspended until further notice. East River Ferry service is suspended through 10/29. Learn more. NJ Transit has implemented a gradual system-wide shutdown of all bus, rail, light rail, and Access Link service. Learn more. All PATH train service and stations have shut down. Learn more. Amtrak has canceled Northeast Corridor service north of NYC starting at 7 pm 10/28, and nearly all service on the eastern seaboard on Monday, 10/29, including Acela Express Northeast Regional, Keystone and Shuttle trains. All NYC public schools will be closed to students Monday, 10/29. For more information, visit the Department of Education website. All City University of New York (CUNY) Colleges are officially closed Monday, 10/29, and all classes are cancelled. For more info, visit CUNY.edu.

Identify all possible exit routes from your home and neighborhood. Designate an out-of-state friend or relative that household members can call if separated during a disaster. If New York City phone circuits are busy, long-distance calls may be easier to make. This out-of-state contact can help you and your family communicate. Account for everybody's needs, especially seniors, people with disabilities, and non-English speakers. Ensure that household members have a copy of your household disaster plan and emergency contact information to keep in their wallets and backpacks. Practice your plan with all household members.
When developing your family's disaster plan, you should assemble and make copies of vital contact information for each family member. Use Ready New York's Emergency Reference Card (PDF, 38 KB) to capture this information.

Landboere må tænke ikke blot på familiens beskyttelse, men også på beskyttelse af husdyr og afgrøder. Det gælder således for landmanden at sikre sig et passende lager af foder og vand til husdyrene. I tilfælde af varsel for radioaktivt nedfald må dyrene føres under tag, helst i stald."
Helst, men ikke nødvendigvis - hvilket betyder at Davenport kan få uventede gæster. :D
