#13 (and to all those who are interested in the Star Wars EP III Soundtrack)

Well, I finally got the CD, or rather I heard it at a friends station who got his promo last week. They send out these promo CDs so they can play some of it on Radio. In fact if you guys cannot wait to hear it go here to listen to it on April 23 between 9AM and 12, in the Official Classic FM Chart Show.
Here : http://www.classicfm.com/index.cfm?nodeId=315&...

As for the music its self, I am not going to dwell too much into the entire score, instead go here and read this, this is as accurate a review I have read about the score : http://www.moviemusicuk.us/revengesithcd.htm

For me it is much more alive, than the previous two scores. But it will never be as good as the original trilogy. It has a lot to do with what Lucas wants and not so much what Williams wants. It is simply put NOT what you'd expect from Williams when it comes to Star Wars. Though Episode II was much better than Episode I when you listen to the music, it is still very evident that Williams simply didn't connect to the films or feel anything for part 1 and 2. However in Part III, you can sense that Williams has connected to this last episode and gave a little more of what you'd expect from a Star Wars score. I love all the scores he made for nearly all the movies he has worked on. But looking back at how Star Wars Episode I was not quite what I had hoped for back in 1999 or was it 97? You can see that Williams in between Episode I and II has created fantastic scores for Harry Potter, Minority Report, Catch me if you can and Terminal.

Though I welcome any Lord Sidious themes or the Emperor theme as we know, I hear very little of it on this CD. Still we are only given half of what Williams has made for Episode III. With that said, I still find some of the best music in the new Star Wars in this last installment of the series. There are some really good ones and then some very familiar ones, which makes you think why it is from Episdoe V and then in the end why they use Episode IV throne room over and over and over and over again. Yes, it repeats its self in the 13 minute end credits about 4 times, and it is about the weakest of all the cues on the CD. But still better than so much out there these days.

One thing people need to understand is that when Lucas butchers the scenes and leaves Williams composing shitty 34 seconds of cues as opposed to the old scores with full thematic glories of 8 min and more it does present Williams with a problem. I simply don't think they can work well together, unlike Spielberg and Williams who have made magic together when it comes to music. Williams fans will know what I am talking about.

Everything is cool on the new CD but the last track is a bit too much and very badly put together. It does resemble a cheap knockoff what Goldsmith used to do for Star Trek.

Also it is no joke when they write that there are serious inspirations to Howard Shores Lord of the rings in Episode III. Something new for Williams to take and build on someone else's themes. But you be the judge of that when you hear the CD.

As for the fan film here, all I can say is that, that chick in the beginning of the movie with the sick and ugly face really is a turn off. She is butt ugly and should need to apply for the SWAN and get a face change or something. Too harsh?

Anyway, those who are interested in knowing more about the score, you can contact me via this place. I'll let you know more... I'll send you the promo cover I have on the CD which is awesome!

And another thing... WHY OH WHY is it that Lucas NEVER really gave tribute to John Williams on ANY of his Star Wars DVDs. I mean a 30 min documentary on the MUSIC of Star Wars. Kind of like Close encounters of the 3rd kind was nice to see when Spielberg let Williams talk about his experiences and how he came up with the ideas for the themes etc. better yet E.T.

Sorry for the yap yap yap yap yap...

Ud fra hvad der står her, så er det til rådighed for Hyperspace-medlemmer, altså på http://www.starwars.com

Ellers er der ikke andet for end at vente til det kommer i butikkerne, hvilket er i starten af maj.
